SECTION .2500 ‑ PUBLIC SWIMMING POOLS

Rules .2501 ‑ .2507 of Title 15A Subchapter 18A of the North Carolina Administrative Code (T15A.18A .2501 ‑ .2507); have been transferred and recodified from Rules .2501 ‑ .2507 Title 10 Subchapter 10A of the North Carolina Administrative Code (T10.10A .2501 ‑ .2507), effective April 4, 1990. Section 15 A NCAC 18A.2537 Maintenance and Operation states “(c)  The owner of a public swimming pool shall provide for the operation of the pool by a person or persons who shall be responsible to the owner for operation, maintenance, pool safety and record keeping. The pool owner shall maintain documentation that the person responsible for operating the pool has been trained on pool equipment operation, disease and injury prevention, pool water chemistry and regulatory requirements for public swimming pools.  A pool and spa operator certificate issued by the National Swimming Pool Foundation or other organization that provides training on those subjects shall be accepted as meeting this requirement. Additionally, pool technicians are required to have a license to perform service work on pool s and spa in the State of North Carolina.  For more information on such classes, please contact the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals.

Operators must follow state, county, city and local laws as well as federal laws pertaining to the operation and maintenance of pools and spas.
